A USB Miner is any miner that connects to and is powered by a USB interface.
Will you break even on any of these? Not very likely. They are affordable and highly configurable though, so you can learn a lot about mining and have fun by playing with them.
Due to their low power consumption, they are sometimes run in the background as solo miners. The odds of finding a block are insanely low, comparable to the lottery (hence the name lottery miner) but the payout is the full block reward - that's 6.25 BTC!
